Why Water Baptism?
Water baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation, an act of obedience that publicly declares faith in Jesus Christ.
“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4
The Significance of Water Baptism
Act of Obedience to Jesus: Baptism is commanded by Jesus and practiced by His followers as an act of obedience.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19
Public Declaration of Faith in Christ: Baptism follows belief and publicly identifies a person as a follower of Jesus.
“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; ...’”

Symbol of New Life and Transformation: Baptism represents dying to the old life and rising to new life in Christ.
